At Hillside, each child is valued as an individual and is given the opportunity to spread his or herwings in a safe, loving, and academically challenging environment. We are a community of lifelong learners, growing together to provide the best education possible in a beautiful natural setting. Hillside presents students with a diversity of excellent programs. In addition to an exceptional academic program, we offer students the opportunity to interact with international teachers and student teachers through our University Demonstration Program. A 24-year partnership with California State University, San Bernardino has repeatedly earned Hillside state and national awards for innovative teaching methods. Hillside has won the International and California Reading Association's Exemplary Reading Program awards and was designated a California Distinguished School in 1995. We have hosted groups of teachers and professional educators from China and Korea, among other nations. Hillside also offers a 50/50 Dual Language Immersion Program, offering students the opportunity to learn a second language as well as learn about different cultures. Hillside’s free Creative Before- and Afterschool Programs for Success (CAPS) enhances and enriches student learning by providing daily homework assistance, a computer lab, sports, games, and hands-on learning experiences. Parents are welcome to participate in our School Site Council, English Learner Advisory Committee, or informally as volunteers. Our active and devoted PTA hosts many fund-raising events.
